How to make learning at home feel more like school

by Lauren Goldblatt

Back to school looks different for everyone this year.

So, we created a bunch of FREE printables to help your kids get back into school mode (and make life a little easier for you).

Typically, when a child goes to class, they have a nameplate on their desk waiting for them.

So, we made these free nameplates for your kids that are perfect for at-home virtual schooling!

You can print the nameplates in color, or in black and white for your kids to color in on their own.  This will help your child read and write their first AND last name.

You can also print these alphabet sheets to help your kids see how the upper and lowercase letters are formed, along with pictures to match each letter sound.

teacher tip :

Review this alphabet sheet with your kids by saying, ‘A apple /a/, B bat /b/.’

The more your kids hear you say it, the more the letter sound recognition will stick.  Now, when they sound out words, they have a word with which to associate the sound.

Learning Letter Sounds

If your child is working on his letter sounds, check out this FREE Kickstart Reading video to help master letter sounds.

But wait, there’s still more! Check out the printable that reviews both short and long vowel sounds, and includes examples to help your child remember.

And, you can also watch this Kickstart Reading video that will help your child master vowel sounds.

Learn the Calendar

Check out this free printable that helps teach the days of the week and months of the year, and includes a blank calendar to fill in.

Learn Shapes and Color Words

Here are printables for learning color words, shapes, identifying numbers, and counting by tens.

It is so helpful for your children to have visual aids and see the concepts they are working on mastering (even if their new classroom is your living room)!

I hope this helps make your child feel a little more comfortable with their new school environment, wherever that may be.

*Share this with a friend who you think could use a little extra help!
